WELCOME TO GUANGZHOU LIVE 3

Following the success of the second edition of Guangzhou Live in 2011 which received a massive audience in the thousands and a surprisingly strong media attention (see MEDIA), we are now pleased to announce this years GL 3 which will take place from November 26 to December 2 2012 in the YouYou Contemporary Art Centre.

GL3 will showcase 30 renowned and emergent artists from 17 countries. As such we continue our mission to present avant-garde action art from all over the world with the mission to advance Guangzhou’s position on the map of contemporary art. But of course also the position of action art in the Pearl River Delta and in China.

GL3 program is cutting-edge and showcases some of the most renowned Chinese and foreign artists, but also of course some younger emerging artists. We see it as our duty to be open to the talent of a new generation of artists. This blend of different generations create the energy and atmosphere of the festival, linking the experience and innovation of an older generation with the energy and ambition of younger artists.

Last years curatorial theme focused on the notion of Human Scale. This year GL 3 will focus on the notion of Body & Mind in Time outlined by Guanghou Live's curator Jonas Stampe.

We are pleased this year to have a continuous support from all of the Consulate Generals and foreign cultural institutes that have supported us since the start, as well as from some new ones. But of course also from several foreign cultural funding bodies like Culture Ireland who gives its generous support to make it possible for GL 3 to present the legendary and historic action artist Nigel Rolfe. But also to Swiss Pro Helvetia who gives a generous financial support for the participation of Ali Al-Fatlawi & Wathiq Al-Ameri, both given the 2012 Swiss Artists of the Year Award.
