WELCOME TO GUANGZHOU LIVE 012

Following the success of the second edition of Guangzhou Live in 2011, with an audience in the thousands and an extraordinary media attention (see the media panel) we can only say thank you to all the participating artists for their great work as well as to all the volunteers for their energy and positive attitude, making it an event out of the ordinary. Of course we would also like to thank our partner the Youyou Gallery for all the effort in making the event a success, as well as the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art.

The team behind Guangzhou Live is already planning the third edition of Guangzhou Live will take place from November 26 to December 2 2012, it will feature an exhibition as well as workshops and lectures in conjunction with the live performances which will take place like in 2011 at the Youyou Gallery as well as in public space in the art area of Xiao Zhou village. It will feature more than 30 renowned and emergent artists from over 18 countries. As such Guangzhou Live will continue its mission to present avant-garde and cutting-edge action art from all over the world. The program of the 2012 edition is not yet finalized, but we know already that it will include a number of the most important contemporary action artists today from both a younger and and an older generation, from China as well as from abroad.

If we with last years edition reached our objective to spark Guangzhou’s position on the international scene of action art. We will in this third edition continue to make it an essential art event for the Pearl River Delta, for China as well as for Asia. Guangzhou Live is already developing new projects and tools which you will discover in this year of the Dragon, 2012, a year which we are confident will be an excellent year with a quite interesting program.

So don’t miss out on Guangzhou Live 12. It is ephemeral, it is international, it is avant-garde, it is popular and it is profoundly human. Welcome.
